FORT WORTH - Gary Thomas Hawkins, 45, owner and operator of Texas National Transport, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Gary Hawkins was born Aug. 5, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was a lifelong resident. He was a former Fort Worth firefighter and a Baptist. He had attended Paschal High School. He was a devoted grandson, son, husband, and father. He enjoyed tennis and auto mechanics.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Thomas Hawkins, in 1992; and grandfather, George Hawkins, in 1991.

Survivors: Wife, Elaine Hawkins of Fort Worth; son, Gary Hawkins Jr. of North Carolina; daughter, Kristen Renee Story of Fort Worth; mother and stepfather, Peggy and Fred Wilkins of Fort Worth; sister, Glenda Hawkins of Fort Worth; grandmother, Lucille Hawkins Daniel and her husband, Jesse, of Fort Worth; aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of loving friends.
