Kenneth Polito

Clay Ellis, 56, completed his earthly mission Monday, April 12, 2010, and returned to his heavenly Father.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3809 Curt Drive, Arlington, with Bishop Cris Baird and President Ken Wallace officiating. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the family residence, 1 Homeplace Court, Dalworthington Gardens.
Clay grew up in Fort Worth and attended Paschal High School, where he met his future wife. During his years at Texas Christian University, he married Dell and they recently celebrated their 36th anniversary. He also attended Baylor College of Dentistry and St. Louis University School of Orthodontics. Throughout his academic career, Clay received numerous awards and accolades for his scholastic achievements. In 1979, Clay moved to Arlington to be close to his brother, Dr. Carl D. Ellis, who practiced dentistry here at that time. For 30 years, Clay enjoyed every moment of his work. Clay loved each of his patients as individuals and knew of their individual needs and wants. He felt confident that he could treat their orthodontic needs, but many nights he prayed for the Lord to be the healer of their other concerns. Over the course of his career, Clay belonged to community and professional organizations too numerous to mention. Many of you knew him from your associations through these civic opportunities. Most recently, he enjoyed the time he spent as a volunteer coach for the Optimists Football Club and as a city councilman for Dalworthington Gardens.
Clay's greatest role in this life was a father and husband. Words are both inadequate and too intimate to describe the love this man gave to his family. His children and grandchildren will stand as his legacy for "He taught them correct principles. Now they can govern themselves." We are grateful to be a family and to have the knowledge that through Christ all things are possible.
Survivors: Wife, Dell Holman Ellis; daughter, husband, grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric Ericson and Warren, Peyton and Avery; daughter, Courtney Ellis-Spitzer and grandson, Trey Ellis-Spitzer; son and wife, Jon and Holly Ellis; son and wife, Charles and Diana Ellis; and the baby of the family, son, Carter Franklyn Ellis; numerous other family members; and close friends.
