FORT WORTH - Dr. Scott Hamilton Boyd, a psychiatrist, died Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital after a 71/2-year battle with Hodgkin's disease. He was 39.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, where he was a member.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Robertson Mueller Harper-Eighth Avenue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Boyd was born in Temple and had lived in Fort Worth most of his life. He was a 1971 graduate of Paschal High School and a cum laude graduate of Austin College in Sherman, where he was a member of Sigma Tau Epsilon.

He also lettered in swimming.

He earned a master of science degree in neurobiological sciences at the University of Georgia while serving on the faculty.

He obtained his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

After completing his residency in psychiatry and neurology at Chicago Medical School, he returned to Fort Worth to practice psychiatry.

Dr. Boyd was a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and was a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Texas Psychiatric Society and the Tarrant County Chapter of the Texas Psychiatric Society.

The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Stephen Presbyterian Church, the Scott H. Boyd Memorial Scholarship Fund at Austin College in Sherman, or a charity of choice.

Survivors, all of Fort Worth: Parents, Dr. and Mrs. Craig H. Boyd; and two brothers, Michael Craig Boyd and Cary MacKenzie Boyd.
